Sookie hasn’t seen Quinn since the disaster at the hotel. Louisiana is still recovering from hurricane Katrina. Sookie is a bit mad that Quinn hasn’t communicated with her at all. Meanwhile, she tries to get back to normal, as normal as she can. Amelia, the witch, is still living at her house, but soon some other things happen.

Some other vampires have their eyes on Louisiana, but there are also some plans afoot. Someone tries to kill Sookie when she’s out one night, meeting her great-grandfather of all things. He’s alive and his name is Niall and he’s a fairy. That means Sookie is part fairy and it also means she’s related to Claude and Claudine.

Sookie is still ticked that Quinn hasn’t called, but eventually he shows back up. It turns out the situation is rather strange, but Sookie has a right to be angry about it. Louisiana sees a new king and Sookie gets some more affection from Eric, turns out he remembers a lot of stuff. Bob the cat is also on his way to being human again.

What I liked

As usual, I like the fact that this is a southern paranormal novel. It’s great. I like that it also seems that Sookie and Eric are on friendlier terms. I like Eric.

What I didn’t like

I don’t like that Quinn didn’t contact Sookie when he had other things going on. That’s rude people. Sure, sometimes you don’t talk to your acquaintances when you’re busy with stuff, but Sookie was the girl Quinn was seeing. He should have let her know what was going on.

Overall

Sookie + Eric= hopefully, fingers crossed.

Weigh In

What would you do if you found out you were part supernatural being?

Do you think Sookie will ever have a somewhat normal life?
